Hello, This is the A-C Central school district calling.
It has been brought to the school district’s attention that Lucky's Pizza and Grill has begun offering Free Wireless Access at their location. This is not a service the school district is providing nor will the school district be able to offer any technical support regarding Lucky's service, but it is our understanding that students would be able to connect to their wireless service whenever the business is open. The Ashland Public Library also offers free wireless access during their business hours and may be a wonderful place to get homework done after school.
This is a last call for the surveys sent out a couple of weeks ago. The school district will continue to collect surveys sent to either the elementary or middle/high school through February 3rd.
Please make your reservations for the Valentine dinner (Ribeye or Chicken Breast) on Sunday February 12 to Missy Eskew at 652-6127 by February 5th.
The A-C Central & PORTA joint School Board Meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on February 8th. Please note that this is a change from the 1st of February. There will be a joint Board meeting withPORTA on February 8, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the A-C Middle/High School cafeteria. The A-C and PORTA School Boards willmeet to discuss the possibility of consolidation. Please plan to attend this veryimportant meeting. ALSO:
There will be no school on Monday the 16th of January in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
There will be a Pork Chop Dinner on Tuesday, the 17th of January from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the A-C Central Cafeteria in Ashland, held just prior to the Porta vs. Beardstown High School Boys Basketball Game. It seems that many of our Middle School students have ran out of basic school supplies such as pens, pencils, and paper; borrowing such from friends and teachers on a daily basis. We are asking parents to please send any additional school supplies they can, especially at the Middle School level.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

The Monsanto Fund is proud to announce the launch of America’s Farmers Grow Rural EducationSM. As a farmer, you can nominate your public school district to compete for a grant of up to $25,000 to enhance the areas of math and/or science.
The program is available in 1,245 rural counties across 39 states. The Monsanto Fund will award 199 grants this year – totaling over $2 million dollars – to rural public school districts:
- 177 grants of $10,000 will be awarded in each eligible USDA crop reporting district.
- 22 grants of $25,000 will be awarded to one eligible school district in each state and designated region.
Grants will be awarded based on merit, need and community support. The more farmers to nominate a school district, the more community support is demonstrated, and it strengthens the school district’s application. So feel free to share this exciting opportunity with other farmers in your area!
The most important thing we can grow is the next generation. Nominate your rural public school district today at GrowRuralEducation.com.
Entrants must be 21 years or older and actively engaged in farming a minimum of 250 acres of corn and/or, soybeans and/or cotton, and/or 40 acres of open field vegetables, or at least 10 acres of vegetables grown in protected culture. Entrants must reside in eligible counties where a minimum of 30,000 acres of corn and/or soybeans and/or cotton and/or vegetables are planted each year. Visit GrowRuralEducation.com for a full list of eligible counties and school districts. ©2012 Monsanto Fund.
