Dear A-C Parents & Guardians:
The Illinois State Board of Education recently decided to increase the grading scale for the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT); their purpose in doing this is to better align ISAT standards with the PSAE (high school standards) and alignment with Common Core Standards. The end result is that the percentage of our A-C elementary and middle school students "meeting" or "exceeding" standards is expected to drop substantially when this year's tests are reported next fall-even though their actual scores may increase.
An analogy of this is a pole-vaulter who clears the bar at 12 feet, improves his vault to 13 feet, but can't clear the bar because it has been raise to 15 feet. Performance improved, but the bar was raised higher.
Please do not be alarmed when these results are announced. We are proud of our academic accomplishments at A-C! Our High School has been recognized for 4 out of the last 6 years for academic improvement and excellence. Our ACT scores have been higher than the state average. Not only that, but our elementary and middle school have been recognized and have consistently high scores.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call your administrative team. A copy of this letter can be found here.
Sincerely,
Becky Canty
Superintendent |

Also, now that students are wearing hats, gloves, scarves and coats there is a large amount of Lost and Not Found items at both buildings. If you think your child is missing something, please have them check in the office at their school.

Good evening. This is an important message for all junior high and high school students and parents that are participating in a winter sport.
The bus schedule for this week’s extra-curricular events is posted on the school’s website. Simply go to www.a-ccentral.com and look on the left-hand side of the page under Resources for a link titled “Extra Curricular Bus Time Schedule.” After you click on the link, you will be taken to a spreadsheet of bus times for all sports.
Please be sure to check the schedule for the week, as some times are different depending on whether the bus is starting or ending in Chandlerville or Ashland so that you know the correct time to be ready for the bus.

Good evening. This is an important message for all A-C Central parents.
Due to the uncertain road conditions and weather, we have decided to cancel school for tomorrow, Friday, December 21st. Finals for the middle and high school students will be taken the Tuesday that we return to school which is January 8th. All elementary parties and gift exchanges will also be on Tuesday, January 8th.
We do apologize for the late notice, but assume that parents would rather be notified tonight instead of in the morning.
We would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
As always a text version of this message can be found on the school’s website at www.a-ccentral.com. Thank you and have a great weekend! |
