Good Evening.  This message includes several important messages for all A-C Central students.  It will be a long message so please listen to the end or be sure to check the website to read the text version.

The Middle School and High School Open House is Tuesday, October 16th from 7:00 – 8:30 PM.  There will be an “R U Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” contest between one teacher and one parent contestant from the audience.  The winner will have the possibility of winning a gift card.

Caitlin McLaughlin from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be at the open house in the lobby of the gym with College Selection and Financial Aid information for parents.  She will also be here at Parent-Teacher Conference night October 25 from 6-8:00 PM to answer questions for parents and students regarding Financial Aid for College.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission provides valuable information to students and parents as they prepare for college.

The Kindergarten through 5th graders are still selling pizzas for PTO.  This is the last weekend to sell the pizzas.  All order forms and money are due to the school office on Monday, October 15th.

As always a text version of this message can be found on the school’s website at www.a-ccentral.com.  Thank you and have a great weekend!

Good Evening.  This is an important message to all high school students that live in Chandlerville.  If you are a high school student from Chandlerville that lives in town or usually catches the bus to go to school at the elementary school, you will now be leaving earlier on bus 3-10.  The time for these students at the Cottage Ave. bus stop will be 6:55 AM and the bus will pick up at the school at 7:00 AM.  Please be sure to be prompt to ensure the bus runs on time.  This bus will drop the students off at the Ashland building at 7:30 AM.  This is the same time that the Ashland students riding a bus arrive at the school, so there will be supervision.  We are doing this in an effort to make the bus ride less crowded in the most cost-effective way.  Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding this year with this busing situation.

Good afternoon.  This is an important message for all A-C parents.

There will NOT be school this Friday, October 5th.  It is a Teacher In-service Day.  Also, there will NOT be school on Monday, October 8th in observance of Columbus Day.  We hope the students enjoy their 4-day weekend!

Also, the Kindergarten through 5th grade students are participating in a fundraiser for PTO.  They are selling only pizzas through Isabell’s Frozen Pizza out of Carlinville.  This is a different company than was used last year and this company only sells pizza products.  We hope you will enjoy this product as we think it’s a great one.  Students who sold the pizza’s will pick them up on Monday, October 29th at the Chandlerville Halloween Parade held in the elementary gym and will then deliver them to those who purchased.

As always, a text version of this message can be found on the school’s website at

Letter from Matt Brue, PORTA Superintendent PDF Print E-mail

On behalf of the PORTA Community School District I would like to welcome our PORTA, Ashland-Chandlerville and visiting fans to our High School Facility.

We are very proud of our District and our football, cheer and dance programs.  However, there is more to PORTA Athletics than what goes on "between the lines."  We view our program as one that is concerned about the "total" individual and feel that it is our job to build on those characteristics that are important to a successful career and life.  We expect our student/athletes to excel in the classroom and work hard on the fied of play.  These young leaders represent our District and as a result have very high expectations in regards to their sportsmanship on and off the floor.  In turn our athletes, Board of Education, Staff and Administration would ask that all our fans strive to conduct themselves in a similar manner when enjoying a game.

As always your support of our athletes is paramount to our athletic cooperative's success.  Your encouragement of student athlete participation is the most important factor in athletic and curricular program participation.  As such, we would welcome your support in soliciting student-athletes' participation in our cooperative programs.  With additional athletes on the field our programs will be stronger and in turn will benefit both the A-C and PORTA School Districts.

Thank you,

Matthew W. Brue

Superintendent
